If you only buy one loaf pan, this classic 10-inch-by-5-inch heavy-gauge pan made of durable aluminized steel would be an excellent choice, as it's wonderful for breads or meatloaf and will last for years. Three inches deep, it holds about 2 pounds of bread dough, making a copious loaf for big sandwiches. The steel turns dark over time as the pan "cures," a natural process, which enhances baking performance and heat distribution. | Comment: | I bought a pair of these pans a few years ago, and I just love them. They are so nice and heavy and produce a lovely crust. They must be handwashed, but they come clean very easily without a lot of elbow grease. I'm planning to start baking most or all of our family bread, so I'm now looking to buy additional pans. I think these will last my lifetime, and possible well beyond. These are definitely a good investment, and an excellent value at this price. |

| Comment: | The Chicago Metallic Commercial pans are great. The only complaint I could mention is that these came with a paper label stuck in the bottom with some glue that was nearly impossible to remove. |
