Pressure cooking uses pressurized steam to cook healthy meals with beans, grains, meat, poultry, and seafood in much less time than many other cooking methods require. This Splendid pressure cooker holds a maximum capacity of 6 quarts of Italian chicken soup or beans with sausage and works on all heat sources. The cooker is constructed of high-quality 18/10 stainless steel with an encapsulated aluminum base for even and efficient heat distribution. For safety, the pressure cooker has dual pressure settings on its handle--one in a dial control and another on a valve. Other safety measures include two pressure release valves and a locking handle to prevent the unit from opening while under pressure. A visual indicator lets you know when all the pressure has been released and the cooker is ready to open. This pressure cooker is dishwasher-safe. --Cristina Vaamonde

| Comment: | Sent it back before I used it. Did not like the seal. Too easy to lose. Too maintenance needy. I like my previous pressure cooker. I am a low maintenance person. |

| Summary: | fagor splendid |
| Comment: | I haven't owned a pressure cooker for more than 15 years. I decided to purchase a Fagor after reading many positive reviews. I was not disappointed! I like the ease and the safety features of this model, much better than the older 1970 pressure cooker. The Fagor heats very evenly and quickly. It appears very durable and well balanced. I would certainly buy another fagor. |

| Summary: | Not what I am used to |
| Comment: | I am used to a pressure cooker that I could hear the regulator rocking from the pressure to let me know that it is cooking correctly; therefore, I scorched and overcooked food because I was expecting to hear the regulator. If that part wouldn't bother you, it would probably be fine. I am sending mine back. |

| Summary: | Fagor vs Presto |
| Comment: | I have a Presto 4 qt. pressure cooker which I like a lot, but wanted something bigger so I bought the Fagor 6 qt. The inside diameter of the Fagor is 8 3/4" vs 8 3/8" for the Presto, 3/8" difference which may not seem like much, but I cook mostly with stainless steel inserts, bowls and the like, to get the double boiler effect, and it's easier to get the bowls out of the Fagor, a tricky job when they are still hot. But the Fagor makes a hissing sound at a pitch I didn't like at all. So I went back to the Presto which makes a nice chuga-chuga sound with the little cap rocking back and forth, a sound I actually find pleasing (I'm a violinmaker, so sound matters to me). But then I found an old aluminum cooker at Goodwill, which I scavenged for the vent tube and cap, and installed it on the Fagor. Voila! A Fagor-Presto. It has the size I like and now the sound also. If you're not handy like that, I would go with the 6 qt. Presto, nice simple design, and that comforting sound heralding a good meal. |
