I had been looking all over for one to replace the plain one we brought back from Europe. This is a very useful gadget if you regularly eat boiled eggs. By piercing the shell before cooking the egg, you release the tension and ensure that the shell will not crack. It also allows easy removal of the amnion from the egg. The price was right, but frankly the shipping cost was ridiculous relative to the price. Also, one review said there was an attached magnet, but mine doesn't have one.

Every now and then something comes along which is very useful. Many times we buy things and never use them. This egg piercer I use a lot. I am always making hard boiled eggs because I like them. This item is very easy to use and convenient to store but watch out because it's so small you can easily lose it. I would recommend it for anyone who wants to make hard boiled eggs for salads, potato salads or just eat them as they are. It was shipped right away and ordering was easy.

I've used one of these for over ten years so it gets a star for every year of hard work. The pin got a bit dull a few years ago and now the locking safety device is jammed but I dare you find as useful a tool for $1.70. Just unlock and punch the fat end of your egg before boiling and the eggs won't crack. The attached magnet keeps it handy, right on the side of my frig. EEEEK! Just canceled my order on this. I realize they have to pay someone to drop this in a padded envelope and pay postage but $8.70 is a bit much for an item that costs $1.70. Product is still great.
