As a versatile indoor or outdoor cooking pot, this one can't be beat. Although it's intended primarily for deep frying fish, fritters, or doughnuts, and includes a thermometer to test the temperature of the oil, the 10-quart stainless-steel pot (with a removable perforated stainless-steel basket) also can be used to steam vegetables, simmer soups and stews, and boil corn on the cob, shrimp, and even homemade bagels. The handle comes with three screws and nuts for easy attachment to the basket, and a notch in the lid allows the handle to protrude during cooking. Two loop handles are affixed to the pot, while a D-ring handle on the lid provides easy grasping with a utensil or mitt. Broad rather than tall, the pot measures 13 by 5 inches; the basket is slightly smaller.
The thermometer, made of stainless steel with a five-inch shaft, pot clip, and 1-3/4-inch dial, allows the cook to keep an eye on the temperature of the oil. A red zone is clearly marked for danger should the oil exceed 450 degrees F, at which point the heat source should be turned off immediately. Both Celsius and Fahrenheit are shown. This pot cooks indoors on a stove or outdoors with a Bayou Classic single-burner stove. For best results, wash by hand. --Ann Bieri

| Summary: | Sturdy Pot, Nice to have |
| Comment: | I use this pot with my BC SQ14 outdoor burner. I picked it over the aluminum pot because SS is better quality and a better conductor. SS is easier to clean and for this combo, I can just wipe with a soapy sponge to get it squeaky clean. SS is much more expensive though. |

| Summary: | Not very good........ |
| Comment: | This pot is lightweight stainless steel. The bottom scorched through, (blackened) on it's first use. I used it on my stove's 16,000 BTU burner, but that has not been a problem for my other cookware. The fried chicken it produced was good, but I'm sure this pot can't stand up to heavy use. Buy it only for occasional use. If you plan to fry alot, buy a basket for your dutch oven or buy a commercial aluminum fry bottom/basket. |

| Summary: | Sturdy fry pot, thermometer is not great |
| Comment: | Got the fry pot with lid and basket for my husband for Father's Day. The pot, lid, and basket are great- heavy construction, though some assembly required for handles, etc. The thermometer that came with the fry pot gave my hubby a good laugh- it's basically a "thermometer for dummies" (i.e. when it hits the red line, turn the fryer off.) Good thing that the thermometer wasn't the reason I bought that fryer! |
