I gave this slicer to my Dad for Christmas and he absolutely loves it. He has had a slicer before that was a pain to clean so it didn't get used very often. This one not only slices great but is an easy clean up. He is slicing everything that he can get his hands on. He is so happy with his Christmas present!
I did a lot of online research before purchasing and this slicer got the best reviews so I am very happy with all the previous reviewers.

For $100 you really can't go wrong with this machine. When I got mine a few weeks ago, there was an insert alerting me that the plastic screw so many other users have negatively commented on has been modified to a better design. Although it is still breakable (if you twist it in way too tight, duh) it is much more sturdy than the previous reviewers must have experienced with their original equipment.

Cleanup is fairly easy, except you will need to invest in some food grade machine lubricant for after you clean it. The blade is sharp and can cut razor thin slices of hame and cheese (all Ive tried so far).

The amount of money you save by buying large hams and turkey breasts will pay for this machine easily.

I learned a lesson about buying cheese in bulk though - use it up, give it to friends, but don't freeze it.

Overall this is a great product and is great around the house - I just wish I had a food saver to go along with it.

I use this 610 slicer for meat slicing and it works perfectly. I can make paper thin ham, meat, patatoes, etc. My husband like the delicate food I made with it. Motor is powerful, clean is easy, I love the carriage is removable so that I can put it and blade in dish washer. Compared with Waring Pro 150 I used before, chef's choice 610 is much easier to clean. The only problem is the thickness control knob is not firmly set, when you press the meat toward the panel a little harder, the knob whirls a bit so it turns out a thicker slice.

This was a Christmas gift for my son. He loves it and now when we make "Fajitas" we can slice and cut up the steak in less than 30 minutes whereas it used to take us at least 2 hours before we had this "Slicer."

For me, choosing a product becomes difficult when you have hands on experience with both the commercial and household versions of a product. I look to reviews to see if the product will fit my well defined needs.

I bought this slicer to be able to make whole muscle jerky and other thinly sliced meat dishes. I generally work with raw meats and as such, the unit does the slicing and then comes apart for a thorough cleaning with relative ease.

With raw meat, getting the last little piece sliced with out slicing into the tips of the plastic holder was tricky. If the mold used to make this piece was beefed up a little (no pun intended) it would not flex when pressure was applied. This is the reason I give it a 4 instead of 5.
