Any person that has ever tried to slice the golden crust of a baguette with a paring knife, or to peel an apple with a chef’s knife, knows the importance of stocking a wide variety of cutlery in the kitchen. A single recipe may require four or five different knives to cut, dice, and slice with efficiency and ease. To cover this wide gamut, Ginsu offers a new comprehensive cutlery set. From the International Traditions cutlery line, the 14-piece set comes equipped with a 3-1/2-inch paring knife, 4-1/2-inch utility knife, 5-inch boning knife, 8-inch slicer, 8-inch chef’s knife, 8-inch bread knife, six 4-1/2-inch steak knives, kitchen shears, and knife block. With this wide variety of blades, the set makes a wonderful housewarming gift for a young family establishing their first household.
The blade of each knife was forged from Japanese 420 series stainless steel with full tang for increased balance and permanence. The hygienic stainless-steel construction resists rusting, staining, and corrosion. The craftsmen at Ginsu employ a specialized Symmetric Edge technology, notching matching serrations on both sides of the blade for enhanced precision and smoothness for left- and right- handed users alike. The balanced two-dimensional serration eliminates the need for sharpening these knifes. Stainless-steel handles are curved to provide an ergonomically-friendly hold for chefs. The knife block features sturdy hardwood construction to protect knives and permit quick access while cooking. For cleaning convenience, the knives are dishwasher- safe. Ginsu covers the set with a limited lifetime warranty. The knife block measures 8-1/2 by 6 by inches. The set weighs 9 pounds upon shipping. --Jessica Reuling

| Summary: | Really sharp knives. |
| Comment: | I just received these knives the other day so I can't comment on the longevity of them but boy are they sharp. I didn't realize how poor my old ones were until I tried these. They have a really nice finish on them and seem to be of solid construction. They also have a really nice weight to them, not too heavy, not too light. I would recommend buying these, the price is right. |

| Summary: | Pretty Sharp Knife |
| Comment: | We were very pleased on how the knives looked when they came out of the box...they are serrated which allows for great cutting (double serrated, so lefties are able to cut just as well :) but will be difficult to sharpen in the future. For the price, you can't beat the quality of these knives. It's still not the greatest...but it definitely does it job and we plan on using them for a few years. |

| Summary: | Pleased with Purchase: They Cut Well |
| Comment: | Please read Sam's review if you want the details. Very interesting. No, not Laugh In interesting but interesting. His details hit each item of importance. But if you do not want to read a lot and need a set of really good and inexpensive knives, this is a first consideration. I was skeptical at first and wanted a Wustof or Shun but the prices are well beyond my budget or need. I only need a knife that cuts well. This set has 'em all. For example, I had a 5 pound ham that just begged to be cut. Out came the enclosed santoku and wow what a clean job. I tested some of the other larger knives and each did an excellent job. Buy again? You betcha and I'm do not live near Minnesota. |

| Summary: | Quality knives |
| Comment: | I am very happy with these knives so far. I paid a little extra to have the metal finish, and it's totally worth it. They look marvelous, but more importantly these are sharp. I'm sure there are sharper knives out there that hold an edge longer, but for the price these are great. My first thought on holding one of these knives is how great the balance felt in my hand. Slicing through raw meat, or cooked food is relatively easy and requires little sawing. |
