Eye-catching in design with swooping curves, the black plastic frame on the New Kenya tea press adds to the anticipation of the fragrant brew. Bodum makes the teapot itself of borosilicate glass, the lightweight, heat-resistant kind found in science labs; all the rest of the parts, including the filter, are made of plastic except for the stainless-steel plunging rod. The plastic frame conveniently helps insulate the bottom of the hot teapot from your table. This particular model holds 34 ounces of tea, enough to fill approximately three mugs or eight teacups.
To brew tea in the New Kenya, measure loose leaf tea into the filter, add nearly-boiling water, put the lid in place, and let it brew. When you feel the tea is strong enough, depress the plunger. The leaves are compacted, which stops the brewing process. That way, you can enjoy the serene act of brewing the tea at your table without having the mess of removing the filter. After use, all the parts may be rinsed or washed by hand or placed in the dishwasher. --Ann Bieri

| Summary: | I wish the inside filter was steel |
| Comment: | This is a good size tea pot for 4-6 people. But I don't use it too often since the inside filter is plastic. It wasn't mentioned in the description, so I didn't know. I would pay more just to have a steel filter to make sure there's no BPA leaking out into the hot tea I make. |

| Summary: | Makes great tea, quickly |
| Comment: | My wife tried tea from a tea press at a friends home and wanted one. I bought the tea press on sale from Amazon. She liked it so much we bought one at full price for our daughter in Maryland. She says it makes great tea also. |

| Summary: | Tea should be very warm |
| Comment: | This pot with the press makes great tea, but there's no way to keep it warm! The black design on the outside is plastic and even covers some of the bottom so there is no way to keep the tea warm. I use it by making the tea in the pot then pouring it into a ceramic pot that I can put on a cup warmer. I do not advise anyone who isn't going to drink the tea within a few minutes of brewing it to buy this pot. |
